Over the last 50 years I have developed a method to improve players of all ages to become two-footed that I am now sharing in this book Football Total Control Digital Edition.
The success rate can be as high as 70%. My method applies to the whole squad, including goalkeepers. We have goalkeeping coaches, so why not “weaker foot” coaches? At almost every game covered by TV or radio, we hear commentators saying something akin to, “Oh, it’s on his weaker foot…”. Many of these commentators are ex-professional footballers. There is no reason that all players cannot show dramatic improvement and become two-footed.
Too much trust placed in the “good” foot, and little or none in the other foot, creates a mental and physical imbalance in the player. Using my method, we could one day in the near future create the first two-footed teams. I am not saying both feet will be equal, but that there will be enough improvement to the weak foot to provide overall a better balance in the players, and therefore in the team. It can then justifiably be called a two-footed team.
All practice sessions should involve both feet, with and without the ball. That stipulation is what will lead towards the development of two-footed players and teams. Football is, after all, a footballer’s job. Many footballers nowadays are being paid ridiculously high wages by clubs that have become accustomed to dealing in astronomical figures. There is convincing evidence that football has lost its conscience. Love of the game is being eroded. Two-footed teams will give the fans value for the price of their tickets. They are entitled to that.
